10 movies that will increase your passion for people

Who doesn´t remember that feeling? Seeing a movie as a child, all you wanted afterwards was to be the hero you looked at for the last 90 minutes.

For me it´s still like this, and only the movies have changed.

It´s a massive inspiration to me to watch a movie about people helping people. A movie that tells a story about somebody who made the world a better place can fuel my motivation for days and even weeks.

These are my top 10 on the topic "selfless effort":

10. Taken

Liam Neeson as a dad who rescues his daughter out of sex slavery at the very last chance. Because he used to be a special agent, he is pretty ruthless in his pursuit.

This is an exiting thriller that touched my heart in two ways: The love of a dad who risks his life to save his child and the power of evil that destroys the lives of many young women. Both are a reality.

9. Machine Gun Preacher

Touching biopic about Sam Childers (Gerard Butler) and his passionate battle to save children in Sudan from murderous militia. Makes this point: "The person who really wants to do something finds a way; the other person finds an excuse."

8. Gifted Hands

Ben Carson (Cuba Gooding Jr.) becomes one of the most famous neurosurgeons the world has ever seen, but his mother is the real hero. Despite negative circumstances she believes in her son, motivates and helps him. All parents should see this movie.

7. Gridiron Gang

As a counselor Dwayne Johnson forms a successful football team out of teenagers in a juvenile detention center. Hate and violence turn into team spirit and a hope for a better future. Motivational for everyone who works with young people.

6. Conviction

How far would you go to help somebody? What kind of price would you be willing to pay? In this movie Hilary Swank fights to overturn the murder conviction of her arrested brother over a period of 20 years.

5. ARGO

Nerve-racking movie about a last minute-rescue based on a true story. During the U.S. hostage crisis in Iran in 1980 CIA agent Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) rescues six Americans out of a life-threatening situation.

My lesson: "Courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to overcome it."

4. The Blind Side

You usually don´t become a football pro growing up somewhere between foster homes and living on the streets never experiencing love and comfort.

This movie is actually the picturization of the story of Michael Oher. It´s about a wealthy lady (Sandra Bullock) who adopts a young man and gives him a future. Awesome!

"Every kid is one caring adult away from being a success story." Josh Shipp

3. Gran Torino

Rejection turns into friendship. A grumpy old man (Clint Eastwood) takes on responsibility for a young man from the neighborhood. Touching story about overcoming racism and the price even old people can pay for the good of young kids.

2. Spy Game

Exiting action movie starring Brad Pitt and Robert Redford. Retiring CIA agent rescues his former trainee out of Chinese captivity where he is facing the death penalty. How much is a single soul worth? Is it worth it to give it all for the rescue of one person? - Yes, it is!

1. Freedom Writers

As a teacher of a hopeless class Hilary Swank turns the whole thing around. Her creative methods make it possible even for the most difficult students to gain a new perspective. I highly recommend this movie to all who work in the area of kids, youth or education. It´s based on a true story and the whole approach is still applied today. Read more!
